My Insights on WordPress Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Overview of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

There are approximately 4.2 billion web pages out there. With this much competition, you could have a great looking, informative website, and still never get found. In order to stand out from the crowd and get people to view your website, you need to do some form of marketing.

There are many ways market a website. Some people acquire direct traffic by using traditional marketing means to promote their website. They may pay for TV ads, radio spots, highway billboards etc. All focused on getting people to visit the website.

Other people use online ads. Either paid social media ads like Facebook. Or buy paying for ads on search engines like Google, this is commonly known as Google Ads or pay per click (PPC).

Other people work hard to ensure that their website ranks high on search engines (primarily Google). The higher you rank on Google, the more likely your listing is to get clicked on. So, search engine optimization (SEO) specialist will work hard to make sure that they are including the proper content on their pages and that search engine bots can properly find and index this content. All in the hopes of showing up on the search engine when a prospective visitor uses the search engine.

I have professional experience in SEO and my main focus is targeting low handing SEO fruit for WordPress websites. This means that rather then spending countless hours trying rank just a little bit higher for a very tough search term, I primarily focus on ways to bring in small but measurable amounts of traffic for less competitive search terms, on a low budget.

My Experience in WordPress SEO

Implemented a local SEO campaign for a midwest based, family run beef farm. Significantly increased traffic to the website, and sales of their product, with one small campaign.

Took over SEO for a local plumbing company. They had been paying for what was billed as an “intensive SEO” program. I significantly increased traffic from Google, with just a few technical SEO fixes and some keyword research/adjustments of page content.

Helped a structural engineering firm attain several #1 rankings for key search terms.

Helped teach a popular SEO course.
